DR. Atomic (in class Underground comics reading/reaction)

After reading a few sections from this volume I believe this to be on the tamer side of the underground comics. Its adult humor is more based on fantasy and urge rather than the gross out factor or even the forcible attack situations entertained in other comics. The graphic content is on the more simplified side, and its style sticks to a fairly organic and curvy/soft feel. The paring of characters for Dr. Atomic makes me place it is in the context of a precursor to the Back to the Future cannon of the young male teen adolescent paired with the old male scientist (which has further continued with Rick and Morty). One of the differences I noticed with this particular comic was its take on “adult” based content. In this since it focuses less on the primal side of adult things and more on the adult matters context. It references and discusses things like world problems, biblical call backs, Hitler, atomic bombs, etc. Along with this is also the fact that the main character is a negative trope that identifies and strives to be good (an evil scientist that create things to benefit man kind). To me this could be commentary on society viewing and assigning labels on the readers of the comic (or at least how the viewer sees it), much like how the crowed accuses the main character of robbing the bank because he is a “mad science”.
